Companies are coming under increasing commercial, regulatory and ethical pressures to control risk from their operations. Organizations often focus on management systems individually, often in silos and sometimes even in conflict. A Quality team is only concerned about QMS issues while a SHE team is only concentrating on Safety & Health issues; the rest of the organization believe these has nothing to do with them. The majority of organizations now ensure they comply with the appropriate legislation, however many are now realizing the benefits a formalized approach to health and safety management systems can bring.
